My Work





I love to work in several different media, challenging my skills and creative choices in collage, acrylics, mixed media, resin, printmaking, sewing and encaustic. Switching around seems to keep me fresh and I tend to work in a series in one particular area and then move along to the next. When I walk out into the studio, I'm never quite sure where my interest of the day may lead me! Each encounter is sort of a surprise, depending on which art supplies are calling my name. I love to just turn the music on and see what the day has in store for me!

RECENT WORK





Back to the basics, using fluid acrylics! Experimenting is the name of the game. I just love trying new techniques and creating a nice challenge for myself in the studio. Each of these paintings play with the interaction of different colors, visual texture and the interplay of gel mediums, binders and additives.

BABY DOLL SERIES





This series is about memories, play time and tea parties from many moons ago.

The sweet love of a little girl and my only baby doll (handed down to me from my older sister). I was given the challenge of pretending to be the best mom ever. Feeding, changing, singing lullabies and taking naps. This baby doll collection was part of a grieving/recovery process when I found out my baby doll had been tossed out in the trash. I searched for months on the Internet and thrift stores, trying to locate her. I ended up with a huge file of images, none of them being my baby doll. Distraught and still sad about my loss, I decided to celebrate the wonderful innocence of the little girl I once was, cherishing the moments we had growing up together. I hope you can feel the love in these pieces.

GRAPHIC PAINTINGS





Starting out with watercolor paper, I begin with broad strokes of black, using either India ink or black acrylic paint. I then choose two colors, plus mixing them together for a third color, creating harmonious, whimsical paintings. Once all the colors are in place, I enhance the painting with black and white pens, using different tips to create soothing and meditative patterns. All are original pieces, matted and ready to frame.

PRINTMAKING





Printmaking brings me back to my roots in college. My concentration was in all sorts of printmaking: etching, woodcuts, lithography, screen printing and monoprints. Now, I mainly work with acrylic paints and gelli plates or like shown below, Akua inks on Speedball gel plates. These are professional inks and when printed on the Speedball gel plates, more details are captured for a more brilliant image!

All are original pieces, matted and ready to frame.

BALI BOWLS





These Bali Bowls are made from beautiful batik fabrics, sourced from my sister's fabric and upholstery shop in Key West, The Seam Shoppe. They are made in sort of a meditative process of ironing (the only time I iron!), sewing a long strand with sturdy rope, and then zigzagging around and around to create the most unique and beautiful vessels. Perfect for holding precious items or displaying found objects of all sorts. These are a great way to organize your space in tranquil style!
